Overview

The aim of this working group is to develop, refine and promote best practice protocols for bio-logging research that maximise scientific insight and conservation benefits, whilst minimising impact on study subjects. We want to facilitate the open exchange of first-hand expertise about tag construction, attachment procedures and other crucial aspects of experimental design, driving continued refinement and innovation.

Activities

We are currently working on a paper that provides recommendations of what should be considered when planning a bio-logging study, highlighting pathways to ensure best practices for efficient data collection in the field and beyond (through collaboration and data sharing, see also Data Standards Working Group). Our goal is to start an open-ended process of communication, refinement and further development.

Members

The current chair of this working group is Matthias-Claudio Loretto (University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria). We are currently discussing future ideas and re-structuring the advisory team that organizes the working group activities. To get in touch, please contact intl.biologging.society [AT] gmail.com
